Cultural differences No1 -train

今ではすっかり当たり前になったが、ハンガリーに来た当時は日本との違いにいちいち驚いたり感心したりだった。
記憶も時と共に薄れていくので、この機会に整理しておく。

シリーズ「Cultural difference between Hungary and Japan」、まずは電車について。

渡欧初日、ウィーンからジュールに向うため、ウィーン西f駅から列車に乗った時のこと。
電車乗り場を探してうろうろしていると、普通にプラットホームまで辿りついた。
まだ切符も買っていないのに・・・

そう、この駅には、日本のような改札口がないので、プラットホームまでスルーで入れるのだ。
これはこの駅に限った事ではなく、オーストリアやプラハでも同様。
放浪癖のある人なら、このまま電車に乗ってドイツにでも行ってみるか、っという気になるかもしれないが、切符を持たずに電車に乗ってしまうと、かなりな罰金をとられるらしいのでお気をつけあれ。

日本では、切符を持たずにプラットホームには入れない。
電車に乗らず、見送りをするだけであっても有料の入場券が必要。
こういった面ではヨーロッパのほうが、やさしいような気もする。
ただ、切符を持たないまま電車に乗ってしまおうものなら、理由の如何を問わず罰金を徴収される。
事情をわかっていない異国人には恐ろしい仕組かも・・・

ここからジュールまではRail Jetという特急列車で１時間３０分の旅。
列車を見た時の第一印象、でっかい電車！
高さがあるので、大きく見える、いやっ、実際大きい。
ドアの高さがプラットホームから５０センチ以上のところに。
ステップを３段くらい登らなければ電車に乗り込めないのだが、そのときの俺の格好といえば、背中にバックパック、手には３０Kgのスーツケース。これを車内に持ち上げるのは至難の業。
親切なヨーロッパ人に助けられ、なんとか上に引き上げた次第。
これって、お年寄りとかは大変だろうな。

From today, I would like to talk about the differences between Japan and Hungary.

Not only the difference of culture, but also habit, life, etc.

I came to Gyor last year in September

I arrived at Vienna by airplane, and then, I rode the Rail-jet and arrived at Gyor.

At the train station,  I look for the ticket gate.

Because Japanese train station has a ticket gate.

So I think it’s same in Europe.

In Japan, I can't enter the platform without passing through the ticket gate.

But in Europe, there is no ticket gate at the station.

I can enter the platform without through the ticket gate.

And then, I see the Rail-jet. 

I felt that Rail-jet is higher than Japanese train.

Especially, the position of the door is high.

When I came here, I had a very heavy suitcase, so it's not easy to get on the train.

In Japan, the entrance of the train is the same height as the platform.

It’s first surprise for me.
